Free Year 3 sentence practice — build complete ideas and choose precise dialogue verbs. No account needed.
Distinguish complete sentences from selected fragments, supply an essential subject or verb, and choose precise reporting verbs from explicit dialogue contexts. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Recognise essential sentence structure and choose reporting verbs that fit supplied dialogue contexts.
Curriculum anchor: England English programme of study: Years 3–4 writing composition and grammar, including varied vocabulary and grammatical structures.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
For these statements, identify the main clause; a subject and verb inside a dependent clause are not enough. Commands can leave the subject unstated. Choose dialogue verbs from the context; “said” is often suitable too. Independent composition is not assessed. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
