Skeleton & Muscle Lab

Free Year 3 science practice — explore skeleton jobs, muscles, joints and selected animal skeletons. No account needed.

About Skeleton & Muscle Lab

Explore skeleton functions, muscle-and-joint movement, and selected internal and external skeleton comparisons. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Recognise how skeletons support and protect bodies and how muscles pull bones at joints to create movement.

Curriculum anchor: England Year 3 science: humans and some other animals have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Use the explanations to distinguish bones, joints, muscles and tendons; practical movement observation belongs alongside the game. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
