Year 4 Data Lab

Free Year 4 maths practice — interpret supplied charts, tables and pictograms, with a simple pie-chart extension. No account needed.

About Year 4 Data Lab

Interpret supplied bar charts, temperature graphs, tables and pictograms; solve supported comparisons and select a proposed bar value from a table. Includes a bounded quarter/half pie-chart extension. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Read scales and representations accurately and solve comparison, sum and difference problems from supplied data.

Curriculum anchor: England Year 4 mathematics: interpret and present discrete and continuous data using graphical methods, including bar charts and time graphs.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to state the scale and units before reading any value; the pie-chart mode is an extension from the local resource set. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
