Free Year 5 Science practice — model the solar system, order planets and explain Moon phases. No account needed.
Describe relative movement, order planets, explain Moon phases and compare solar-system models. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Use bounded models to explain relationships among the Sun, Earth, Moon and planets.
Curriculum anchor: England Year 5 Science: Earth and space; movement relative to the Sun and Earth; approximately spherical bodies.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
Use two differently sized balls and a lamp, while saying clearly that classroom sizes and distances are not to scale. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
