Algebra and Formula Lab

Free Year 6 Maths practice — express problems, use formulae, find pairs and calculate area or volume. No account needed.

About Algebra and Formula Lab

Build equations, substitute into formulae, find number pairs and apply area or volume formulae. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Translate and evaluate simple algebraic relationships within the stated number domain.

Curriculum anchor: England Year 6 Mathematics: simple formulae, algebraic missing-number problems, pairs satisfying two-unknown equations, and area or volume formulae.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to state what each letter represents and substitute the answer back into the original relationship. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
