Coordinate Moves Lab

Free Year 6 Maths practice — read four quadrants, complete shapes, translate shapes and reflect in axes. No account needed.

About Coordinate Moves Lab

Read coordinates, complete shapes and translate or reflect supplied triangles in four quadrants. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Use ordered pairs and a consistent transformation across a supplied shape.

Curriculum anchor: England Year 6 Mathematics: describe positions on the full coordinate grid and draw or translate simple shapes and reflect them in the axes.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to say the horizontal change, vertical change and which coordinate changes sign. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
