Proofreading Lab

Free Year 6 English practice — correct spelling and punctuation in supplied sentences and extracts. No account needed.

About Proofreading Lab

Correct stated spelling and punctuation errors in supplied sentences and short extracts. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Notice and correct spelling and punctuation errors while preserving intended meaning.

Curriculum anchor: England upper KS2 writing: proofread for spelling and punctuation errors and use the Years 5–6 word-list and punctuation knowledge.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

After each correction, ask the learner to name the check that revealed the error. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
