Free Year 7 Science practice — interpret atoms, molecules, elements, compounds, symbols and formulae. No account needed.
Distinguish atoms, molecules, elements and compounds using simple particle diagrams, symbols and formulae. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Interpret selected particle representations, recognise common symbols and read the composition shown by simple formulae.
Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: a simple atomic model; atoms and molecules; elements and compounds; chemical symbols and formulae.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
Ask what each symbol names and how subscripts change the number of atoms represented, without guessing arbitrary ionic formulae. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
