Energy Systems Lab

Free Year 7 Science practice — reason about energy stores, transfers, power, efficiency and resources. No account needed.

About Energy Systems Lab

Reason about energy stores, transfer pathways, joule and power calculations, efficiency, resources and costs. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Identify energy stores and pathways, calculate selected energy and power values, and compare efficiency and resources from supplied evidence.

Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: energy stores and transfers, power, energy changes in systems, efficiency and comparing power ratings and energy costs.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Require units in every calculation and distinguish energy conservation from whether a transfer is useful. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
