Free Year 7 Science practice — conserve mass, calculate missing masses and explain open-system changes. No account needed.
Apply conservation of mass to selected reaction statements, whole-mass calculations and apparent changes in open systems. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Identify measured-system boundaries, complete supplied reactant and product mass calculations, and explain apparent mass changes when gases enter or leave.
Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: conservation of mass; changes of state and chemical reactions; and simple quantitative interpretation of reactant and product masses.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
Draw a boundary around the measured system before calculating and check whether a gas can enter or leave. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
