Free Year 7 Science practice — connect sound travel, wave properties, echoes and hearing ranges. No account needed.
Connect sound production and propagation with wave properties, reflection, absorption and supplied hearing-range evidence. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Explain selected sound propagation, interpret frequency, wavelength and amplitude relationships, and compare bounded reflection and hearing evidence.
Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: sound waves as longitudinal waves; frequencies of sound; the auditory range of humans and animals; and sound reflection and absorption.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
Ask the learner to distinguish pitch from loudness and treat hearing-range data as general evidence rather than a personal hearing test. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
