Space and Seasons Lab

Free Year 7 Science practice — explore the solar system, Sun and Moon, galaxies, days and seasons. No account needed.

About Space and Seasons Lab

Explore solar-system structure, the Sun and Moon, stars and galaxies, day and night, and Earth’s seasons. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Use gravity, scale, emitted and reflected light, rotation, orbit and axial tilt to explain selected space observations.

Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: gravity in the solar system, the Sun as a star, other stars and galaxies, and seasons caused by Earth’s tilt.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to separate rotation from orbit and axial tilt from Earth–Sun distance. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.

Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.

Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
