Free Year 7 Science practice — compare wave forms, measurements, water waves and superposition. No account needed.
Compare transverse and longitudinal waves, calculate selected wave quantities, interpret water-wave observations and combine displacements. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Learning objective: Classify wave forms, use supplied amplitude, frequency, wavelength and speed values, and reason about water waves and superposition.
Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Science: waves as energy transfer; transverse and longitudinal waves; frequencies; amplitudes; wavelengths; water waves; and superposition.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
Ask the learner to name the oscillation direction and travel direction separately, then state units before calculating. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
