Graph and Geometry Lab

Free Years 8–9 Maths practice — work with gradients, straight lines, Pythagoras and quadratic tables. No account needed.

About Graph and Geometry Lab

Use selected gradient, straight-line, parallel/perpendicular, Pythagoras and quadratic-table relationships. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Calculate gradients, connect equations and tables to lines, identify parallel or perpendicular lines, apply Pythagoras and substitute into quadratic rules.

Curriculum anchor: England KS3 Mathematics: use linear equations in two variables, gradients, Pythagoras and graphical representations of linear and quadratic equations.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to name the relevant change, coefficient or right-triangle sides before calculating. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.

Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.

Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
