Argument and Summary Lab

Free Year 9 English practice — retrieve, support, summarise and organise arguments. No account needed.

About Argument and Summary Lab

Retrieve relevant information, match evidence to claims and organise concise, cohesive arguments. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Select relevant evidence and connect claims, support, counterpoints and conclusions in a logical order.

Curriculum anchor: England KS3 English: retrieve and summarise information; organise ideas; use evidence; plan and structure writing for purpose and audience.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask what exact question each detail answers, how the evidence supports the claim and which connective states the intended relationship. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
