Counting Steps Sprint

Free counting in steps game for Years 2 to 4 — counting on in 2s, 3s, 5s, 10s, 25s and 1,000s, matched to the national curriculum. No account needed.

About Counting Steps Sprint

Count forwards and backwards in curriculum-linked step sizes from 2 to 1,000. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Continue number sequences by counting in equal steps and identify missing values.

Curriculum anchor: England mathematics programmes of study: number and place value in Years 2 to 4.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to say the fixed step aloud and check the difference between neighbouring terms. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.

Frequently asked questions
