Free teaching routine

Help with a stuck school topic in 20 minutes

Use this short routine when a child is stuck on a Maths, English or Science activity. It combines a clear explanation, a checked teaching resource and a second attempt without asking you to become the subject expert.

The 20-minute rescue routine

  1. Read the activity together and identify the exact point that feels difficult.
  2. Watch or read one checked explanation and pause to talk through the example.
  3. Use a teaching presentation or worked example together when one is available.
  4. Return to the original activity and try it again while the explanation is fresh.

Linked resources come from independent providers. Some are free and some need their own account or subscription, so choose the option that suits your family or setting.
