Close About Decimals Sprint
Practise recognising, calculating with and scaling decimals through tenths and hundredths. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.
Curriculum purpose Learning objective: Recognise decimal equivalents, calculate with decimals, and multiply or divide by 10 and 100.
Curriculum anchor: England mathematics programmes of study: decimals in Years 4 and 5.
This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.
For parents and carers Ask the learner to explain what happens to each digit's place value when a number is multiplied or divided by 10 or 100. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
Frequently asked questions Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.
Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.
Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
