Fractions Sprint

Free fractions game for Years 2 to 4 — halves, thirds, quarters, fractions of amounts, equivalent fractions and comparing fractions, matched to the national curriculum. No account needed.

About Fractions Sprint

Practise fractions of amounts, equivalent fractions and comparing fractions through three selectable question sets. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Find fractions of amounts, recognise equivalent fractions and compare simple fractions.

Curriculum anchor: England mathematics programmes of study: fractions in Key Stage 1 and lower Key Stage 2.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to explain the equal parts or common denominator that proves each answer before selecting it. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.

Frequently asked questions

Does it need an account? No. The game runs in the browser and asks for no name, email address, school or location.

Is it timed? Practice is untimed. Where a sprint exists it is optional. Times Tables Sprint also includes MTC-style independent practice, not an expected-standard judgement.

Can it be used on a phone? Yes. Buttons support touch and keyboard use; sorting always has a tap alternative to dragging.
