Position & Turns Sprint

Free position and direction game for Years 1 to 2 — above, below, inside and next to, which way an arrow points, and quarter, half, three-quarter and whole turns, matched to the national curriculum. No account needed.

About Position & Turns Sprint

Use generated scenes to practise position words, arrow directions and quarter, half, three-quarter and whole turns. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Describe position and direction and recognise common turns, including clockwise and anticlockwise movement.

Curriculum anchor: England mathematics programmes of study: position, direction and movement in Years 1 and 2.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask the learner to act out each direction or turn, then explain which visual clue proves the answer. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
