Seasons Sorter

Free seasons game for Year 1 — the signs of spring, summer, autumn and winter, how the days grow longer and shorter through the year, and which weather comes in every season. Matched to the national curriculum. No account needed.

About Seasons Sorter

Sort reviewed seasonal signs, changes in day length and weather that can occur in every season. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Recognise common signs of the four seasons and how day length changes through the year.

Curriculum anchor: England science programme of study: Year 1 seasonal changes, including weather and variation in day length.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Ask which clue makes one season most likely, while allowing that British weather and wildlife do not follow rigid calendar boundaries. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
