Tense Workshop

Free Year 2 tense practice — spot and change supplied past and present verbs. No account needed.

About Tense Workshop

Recognise and change supplied simple-present and simple-past forms and select am, is or are. The default practice mode is untimed, so the learner can think before choosing. Correct answers build a gentle celebration; mistakes receive corrective feedback and return later rather than causing a penalty spiral.

Curriculum purpose

Learning objective: Recognise and change supplied simple-present and simple-past forms and select am, is or are.

Curriculum anchor: England English programme of study: selected Year 2 activities; partial support only.

This game is designed as short independent practice after an idea has been introduced. It does not replace direct teaching, mathematical or scientific discussion, or an adult checking whether the learner can explain the idea away from the screen.

For parents and carers

Tense Workshop provides guided Year 2 recognition and transformation of supplied simple-present and simple-past verb forms, including selected irregular verbs, and selection of am, is and are with supplied subjects. It offers partial support for topic 2519. Progressive constructions occur only as contexts for auxiliary selection. The game does not assess independent sentence composition, formation or understanding of progressive, perfect or future constructions, every irregular verb, broader subject–verb agreement or complete topic mastery. Stop while attention is still good. A short accurate return tomorrow is more useful than extending a tired session today.
