Multiplication Tables Check 2027: Dates and Format
The Year 4 multiplication tables check in England is scheduled for the two weeks beginning Monday 7 June 2027. It is an on-screen check in state-funded schools. Schools decide how to organise it and whether a pupil needs access arrangements or should not participate.
The window comes from the Department for Education's published timetable of future assessment dates, which already covers 2028 as well.

The format above follows the current administration guidance, which covers 2026. Ask the school which multiplication facts would be useful to practise and how it will introduce the on-screen check. Check the 2027 guidance when available.
Choosing practice

Choose an activity that suits the facts your child is working on; these resources are separate from the official check. Children educated at home and not registered at a school do not have to arrange the check. Ask the school about participation if your child is on its roll.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a pass mark for the multiplication tables check?
There is no pass mark. The school receives a score out of 25 and shares it with parents. Ask what the score and classroom work suggest your child should practise next.
Which times tables should we practise?
The check draws on the 2 to 12 times tables. Start with facts your child is currently learning or finds difficult, and ask the teacher what would be useful.
What if my child is absent during the window?
Ask the school about the arrangements for 2027. The 2026 guidance allowed the following week for pupils absent during the main two-week window or affected by technical problems. Do not assume that missing the first fortnight rules a child out; the school should use the current year’s guidance.
