SATs Dates 2027: KS2 Test Week and Day-by-Day Timetable
KS2 SATs week 2027 runs from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May 2027. The dates apply to state schools in England, where the key stage 2 tests are statutory for Year 6 children, and they come from the Department for Education's published timetable of future assessment dates.
This page keeps the dates in one place, with the usual day-by-day paper order, the 2028 week for anyone planning further ahead, and links to free practice if you want to prepare without pressure.
The day-by-day timetable
The Standards and Testing Agency confirms the exact paper order closer to the tests. Recent years have followed the same pattern, so treat the day-by-day order below as provisional and the week itself as fixed.
| Day | Papers |
|---|---|
| Monday 10 May 2027 | Grammar, punctuation and spelling: paper 1 (questions) and paper 2 (spelling) |
| Tuesday 11 May 2027 | English reading |
| Wednesday 12 May 2027 | Maths paper 1 (arithmetic) and paper 2 (reasoning) |
| Thursday 13 May 2027 | Maths paper 3 (reasoning) |
Schools can use Friday of that week, and a small timetable variation window, for children who were absent on the day. If your child is ill during SATs week, talk to the school rather than assuming the chance has gone.
Our free Year 6 SATs revision plan covers what to practise between now and May, and the arithmetic practice papers are free to use with no account.
What about Year 2 (KS1) in 2027?
KS1 SATs are optional. Schools that choose to use the optional tests are advised to run them during May 2027, but there is no national KS1 test week and no requirement to sit them. Our separate page on KS1 SATs in 2027 explains the current position and what replaced the old statutory tests.
SATs dates 2028
The following year's week is already official: KS2 SATs 2028 run from Monday 8 May to Thursday 11 May 2028. The Department for Education publishes these dates two academic years ahead, which is useful if you are planning around holidays or a house move.

Frequently asked questions
Are the SATs dates 2027 confirmed?
Yes. The test week of Monday 10 to Thursday 13 May 2027 is published by the Department for Education. The exact paper-by-paper order within the week is confirmed nearer the time by the Standards and Testing Agency; the order shown here follows the pattern of recent years.
When do the 2027 SATs results come out?
KS2 results are usually released to schools in July. The exact 2027 date has not been announced yet; our SATs results day 2027 page tracks it and explains scaled scores.
Do home-educated children sit SATs?
No. The key stage 2 tests are administered by schools, so a child educated at home does not sit them and there is no requirement to arrange an alternative. Home-educating families sometimes use past papers informally to see how things are going.
