SATs Results 2027: When They Come Out and What the Scores Mean

By TheLearnDen's editorial team · Updated 2026-08-28 · England-focused; curriculum and assessment arrangements differ across the UK.

KS2 SATs results 2027 are expected to reach schools in early-to-mid July 2027. The exact date has not yet been announced by the Standards and Testing Agency; for reference, the 2026 results were released to schools on 16 July, after the date first planned for that year moved during the marking period. This page will state the confirmed 2027 date as soon as it is published.

Results go to schools first, through the official portal. Parents do not get a login or an alert: the school passes results on, usually inside the end-of-year report before the summer holidays.

How scaled scores work

Each test's raw marks are converted to a scaled score so that results mean the same thing year to year, however hard that year's papers were.

KS2 scaled scores
ScoreMeaning
80The lowest scaled score that can be awarded
100The expected standard
110 or aboveWorking at greater depth, the higher standard
120The highest scaled score that can be awarded

A child at or above 100 in reading, maths, and grammar, punctuation and spelling has met the expected standard in that subject. Writing is different: it is teacher-assessed against a framework rather than tested, so it comes back as a judgement, not a number.

What the results are used for, and what they are not

Secondary schools receive the scores and some use them to set initial groupings, which usually shift within the first term. The results do not affect a child's secondary place, which was offered back in March, months before the tests. If the scores arrive lower than expected, nothing about Year 7 is fixed by them; the Year 6 SATs revision guide has a section on keeping the whole thing in proportion, and the free Year 6 maths topic pages are there if you want to shore anything up over the summer.

The 2028 rhythm

The 2028 tests run from Monday 8 to Thursday 11 May 2028, and results will again follow in July. Release dates are announced within each assessment cycle, so the 2028 date will be published during the 2027 to 2028 school year.

Sources, verification and updates

Primary source: the Standards and Testing Agency's key stage 2 results guidance, published on gov.uk within each year's assessment cycle; test weeks from the primary assessments future dates page.

  • Last verified: 28 August 2026. The 2027 release date is not yet published; the expectation stated above is based on the established July pattern.
  • Next review: when the STA publishes the 2027 assessment and reporting arrangements, and again in June 2027.
  • Change log: 28 August 2026, page first published; 2026 reference date and scaled-score facts checked against STA guidance.

Frequently asked questions

What date do SATs results come out in 2027?

Not yet announced. Results are expected to reach schools in early-to-mid July 2027; in 2026 they were released on 16 July. This page will carry the confirmed date once the Standards and Testing Agency publishes it.

Do parents get SATs results directly?

No. Results go to schools, and the school reports them to you, normally with the end-of-year report. If you have not seen them by the last week of term, ask the school office.

What is a good SATs score?

100 is the expected standard, and anything at or above it means your child met the standard for that subject. 110 or above is described as the higher standard. A score below 100 tells the secondary school where support is needed; it does not follow a child as a label.
