Free SATs arithmetic practice paper
Generate a fresh set of original Paper 1-style calculations, answer online or print it, then mark it with the built-in answer key.
Independent practice resource. Questions are generated by TheLearnDen and are not copied from an official test or endorsed by the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency.
Final-answer score
For each 2-mark long multiplication or long division question, official marking can award 1 method mark when the final answer is wrong. This tool cannot judge written working, so the score above counts final answers only.
Arithmetic practice paper
Allow 30 minutes. Do not use a calculator. Give each answer as one value; for fraction questions, use a fraction, mixed number or whole number.
How to use it
- Use the timer for a full practice attempt, or work without timing while learning.
- Answer online and choose Mark paper, or print a blank paper and separate answer key.
- Reuse the four-digit paper number so a parent, tutor or pupil can open exactly the same questions.
- The online marker accepts equivalent fractions and exact terminating decimals; use fraction form for the closest exam-style practice.
What it practises
Whole-number calculations, place value, missing-number equations, fractions, mixed numbers, decimals, percentages, order of operations, long multiplication and long division. The mix changes between papers while keeping 36 questions and 40 marks.
Running this in class
- Share this page's link, or read the four-digit paper number aloud and ask everyone to open this KS2 SATs arithmetic tool. The same number on this page always loads the same 36 questions.
- Thirty minutes is the full-paper timing, but add timing only after the calculation methods are secure. Accuracy comes before speed.
- Keep answers hidden for the attempt, then choose Mark paper or Show answers to review it together.
- The four 2-mark questions are long multiplication and long division. If those are the only errors, reteach the written method rather than restarting all arithmetic practice.
- Use Print paper for a clean pupil copy and Print answers for a separate answer key.
Where the paper format comes from
Every question is generated by TheLearnDen and none is copied from a national test. The paper shape follows the published specification.
- Paper 1 is 40 marks and 30 minutes.
Key stage 2 mathematics test framework, Standards and Testing Agency - There are 36 questions, no calculator, and long multiplication and long division carry 2 marks.

Questions
Is this an official KS2 SATs paper?
No. The questions are original and generated by TheLearnDen. The resource is not endorsed by the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency.
Can this practice paper produce a SATs scaled score?
No. It is an original practice generator rather than a standardised national test, and arithmetic Paper 1 is only one part of the KS2 mathematics assessment.
Can I print the arithmetic paper and answers?
Yes. You can print a blank 36-question paper and a separate answer key, or answer and mark the paper online.
How many practice papers are there?
There is no fixed bank to finish. Each four-digit paper number generates one reproducible paper, so there are thousands of possible sets.
Can a class open the same paper?
Yes. Share this page's link with its paper number, or ask everyone to enter the same four-digit number on this page.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no account, email address or trial limit.
Does it include reasoning papers?
No. This tool covers arithmetic calculations only. SATs reasoning papers use worded and multi-step problems and need different practice.
Does it cover mixed numbers?
Yes. The later fraction questions include mixed numbers, and the answer checker accepts equivalent exact fraction forms.
