GCSE Exam Dates 2027: Timetable for the Summer Series
The GCSE common written-exam timetable for summer 2027 runs from Monday 10 May to Friday 18 June. Keep Wednesday 23 June 2027 available as the contingency day. Your own paper dates depend on your qualification, board and entry.
The table below uses the Pearson Edexcel final GCSE timetable. Check the paper codes and times on your school or exam centre’s timetable before making plans. International GCSEs and qualifications regulated in Wales or Northern Ireland need their own board’s timetable.

Biology paper 1 and combined science biology 1 sit on Tuesday 11 May 2027, the second day of the series. Subjects outside this table, and any board-specific papers, are in each board's own timetable: AQA, Pearson Edexcel and OCR all publish theirs as free PDFs.
Three practical facts
- Wednesday 23 June 2027 is the contingency day for national or significant local disruption. Keep it available even if your own scheduled papers finish earlier.
- The common entry deadline is 21 February 2027. Private candidates must agree the centre’s own deadline and fees in advance.
- Results day for the summer 2027 series is Thursday 19 August 2027.

GCSE dates 2028
For a 2028 entry, use the timetable for that year when your board publishes it. Do not reuse the 2027 paper dates. You can already ask centres which qualifications they offer and when they expect to take entries.

Frequently asked questions
What time do GCSE exams start in 2027?
The Pearson GCSE timetable lists UK sessions at 9.00am and 1.30pm, with permitted centre adjustments. Use the time your school or centre gives you, including when to arrive.
Are these dates the same for AQA, Edexcel and OCR?
Many GCSE papers use common slots, but do not use this selected Pearson table as your timetable for another board or qualification. Check your board, specification and paper codes against the timetable supplied by your centre.
When is the last GCSE exam in 2027?
The JCQ common timetable ends on Friday 18 June 2027 for GCSEs. The contingency day is Wednesday 23 June. Your own last scheduled paper may be earlier, but you should remain available for the contingency day.
